Events program released: February to May

What’s coming to Centre for Stories this February – May.

February 1, 2024

We have some exciting events coming to Centre for Stories from February through to May.

These include our regular ongoing events, such as Write Night and Ink & Echo Poetry Meetups, but also the launch of the latest monthly addition: Queer Story Nights run by Jay Anderson and Mim Kempson.

For those seeking introductions to different mediums of writing, our partnerships with Performing Lines and The Blue Room Theatre present wonderful opportunities for people dreaming of writing for the stage. While Saga Sisterhood has almost sold out, we also recommend checking our Mararo Wangai‘s Art and Inspiration, or Jay Emmanuel and Karthika Nair‘s Journey of a Playwright interactive session. Ngarluma director and First Nations Executive at Screenwest, Perun Bonser, also returns with part two of his Fundamentals of Screenwriting Workshop for screenwriting novices and alumni alike (date coming soon!).

Many of our friends and graduates of Centre for Stories’ writing programs are centre stage this year at the Perth Festival, including Megan Ugle and Raihanaty A. Jalil in City Poets, Casey Mulder co-running a deliciously fun micro-memoir workshop, and Madison Godfrey and Holden Sheppard‘s On Beauty.

Jess Gately returns with more editing knowledge, running not one, not two, but three essential events on editing and writing – including the beloved Two to Tango Editor & Writer Speed Dating. Also not to be missed is award-winning author Rashida Murphy‘s masterclass on Personal Mythologies: Writing Race, Culture and Identity, and a special oral storytelling event with people yarning their experiences of community and connection for the Joondalup Festival 2024.

So much to see, do, experience and connect – explore all the events by downloading our digital program here or heading to our events page on the website.
