Centre for Stories

Storyteller callout

In partnership with the Town of Victoria Park, Centre for Stories is looking for people to share their story of entering or experiencing homelessness.

October 20, 2021

In partnership with the Town of Victoria Park, we’re looking for people to share their story of entering or experiencing homelessness. This includes people who have experienced severe financial hardship and were at risk of experiencing homelessness, those who have been in crisis accommodation or temporary housing, and those who have lived experience of couch surfing or rough sleeping.

We know that the experience of homelessness can be defined in many different ways and effects many different people and this oral storytelling project aims to explore the diversity of stories about homelessness as a part of Homelessness Week in August of next year.

We’re interested in hearing from people who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, young people (18-26), and women over the age of 55, as these groups often experience higher levels of housing disadvantage. We also encourage people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, the LGBTIQA+ community, or those living with a disability to get in touch.

Selected participants need to be available for four two-hour oral storytelling workshops at the Centre for Stories on a weekday evening or a Saturday morning in November or December, for those with access needs, available to complete our self-paced online training course by the end of December.

If you’re interested in participating, please complete the expression of interest form below by 11.59pm (AWST) Sunday 14 November.
