Side Walks was a dynamic, one-day celebration of storytelling in its various forms across Northbridge and the Perth CBD held on 5 October 2019. Funded by the City of Perth, Side Walks was a dynamic, one-day celebration of storytelling in its various forms across Northbridge and the Perth CBD held on 5 October 2019. Bringing together artists, writers, journalists and poets from across multiple disciplines, Side Walks presented six free unique events in venues both usual and unusual.

In Taking Up Space, Mani Gomes, Lisa Longman (CEO) and Shenali Perera (Program Facilitator) from The Young Boxing Woman Project weaved personal stories with socio-political commentary to discuss the practice of claiming space – an act of rebellion in a world that tells women to stay in their lane. This event was held at The Museum of Perth.
