Centre for Stories is seeking an enthusiastic and book-loving volunteer to help manage and maintain our library located at our beautiful heritage cottage in the heart of Northbridge.

Founded in 2015 by John and Caroline Wood, Centre for Stories is a vibrant, inclusive literary arts and cultural organisation. We use storytelling to grow skills and confidence, inspire understanding and promote community cohesion. Our work is about more than words. We are led by and empower storytellers and writers whose experiences and perspectives may have been historically disempowered and disenfranchised.

Our small but impressive library has been lovingly catalogued by John McCann and holds over 2,500 books of poetry, non-fiction, anthologies and literary fiction.

We are seeking a book-loving person to help us curate our library by carefully de-accessioning some of the library collection in conjunction with a conservative donation-acceptance strategy to sustain and grow the unique quality of our library.

The volunteer will also have the chance to profile our collection through social media, events, and find other engaging ways.

The volunteer will also be in charge of keeping our catalogue up to date and maintaining a basic book-borrowing system.

The volunteer will be required to come into the Centre for Stories at least once a month.

Although this volunteer position is unpaid, we can offer you a desk, long lunches, and ongoing friendship in our beautiful space with free access to our workshops and events to the value of $1,500 for the year.
