Centre for Stories
Seeking Applications – Research Internship
September 1, 2022
Centre for Stories is seeking someone with an interest in conducting research within the social sciences to apply for an internship focused on our WA Stories project. This project is funded by the Department of Local Government Sports and Culture (DLGSC) and has the overall aims of mapping out which past and present Western Australian stories need to be collected, and of finding out what would be the best way to showcase them in the lead up and during the state’s bicentenary. Currently, the project is in the data collection stage via interviewing key leaders in the arts and culture sector and an online survey.
This research internship is an unpaid opportunity to gain experience in conducting research in the arts sector. Particularly, you will develop qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills using NVivo and SPSS, as well as reporting. You would be working alongside the Research Officer who is leading the project.
The internship will be based at our centre in Northbridge, and it will run for one day a week for 6 months (October 2022 to March 2023).
Although it is not a requirement, we are seeking an intern which:
- Is studying/recently finished a Bachelor within the social sciences (Sociology, Anthropology, History, or any similar discipline).
- Has basic experience in research (qualitative research preferably).
- Is interested in learning how to transfer research skills into the not-for-profit sector.
Those on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, people of colour, and people living with a disability are encouraged to apply.
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
Please include a resume and a short cover letter in your email application sent to submissions@centreforstories.com
Applications close COB Monday 26 September 2022.
The successful applicant will be notified by 30 September 2022. Internships will commence the week starting 17 October (negotiable).
