Portside Review shortlisted for Asia Pacific Art Awards 2024
February 22, 2024
Centre for Stories’ very own digital journal, Portside Review, has been shortlisted for the Asia Pacific Art Awards 2024 in the innovation category.
The innovation category is awarded to an Australian artist, group, collective or arts organisation in recognition of a unique method of practice, engagement and/or process to build creative links in Asia or the Pacific.
Our mission at Portside Review has always been to connect with one another through a strong, tangent sense of place and kinship. We are not bound by what should keep us apart. Our art, relationships, politics and lives transcend borders and seas, and are the very essence of this journal.
Over the last three years, Portside Review has published over 380 pieces of writing. We estimate that over 50 pieces of writing have been translated from languages such as Hindi, Indonesian, Malay, Mandarin, Kristang, Zulu, Tamil, Kannada, Xhosa, and more. At least 20% of writing was produced by LGBTQIA+ writers and over 17% of writing was by First Nations.
The award recipients are chosen by an independent panel of industry advisors, with a prize pool of $125,000 across five categories.
