Ita Goldberger was born in Israel to Holocaust surviving parents, a fact which she considers a deep part of her. She grew up with a storyteller father who repeatedly told the history of his murdered family. After moving to Australia 19 years ago, Ita worked as a NAATI translator (National Accreditation Authority for Translators & Interpreters) for many years, translating mainly official documents between Hebrew and English. Her ability to speak multiple languages contributes to her passion for the word. She is also a musician, which may explain why in poetry she finds a sense of rhythm, tempo, colour, phrasing, storytelling and ultimately, much joy. In January 2018, Ita’s first poetry book ‘A Gray Nomad’ was published in Israel, after having been published in various Israeli literary magazines.
