Our response to COVID-19
March 16, 2020
25/03 UPDATE: Centre for Stories has cancelled all events until the end of April. Further up-to-date information will be shared via our newsletter, where we will also be sending out a weekly bulletin with new stories and ideas. Subscribe here.
Centre for Stories is currently monitoring the unfolding public health situation.
At present, we are taking certain steps to ensure the safety of our audience, community, and staff. This not only extends to hygiene practices, but to making sure people feel safe in our groups and at our events. In real terms, it will likely mean the cancellation of some planned activities. We need to do our part to help in whatever way we can.
Like many in the arts sector, we are concerned for vulnerable people in our community and in society more generally. This includes issues of economic justice from access to food and to an ongoing living wage for freelance and casually employed people. We support calls from arts organisations and opposition political parties to follow international examples whereby our sector is financially supported through this moment. Write to your local member of parliament today asking that they keep arts and artists going. If we do not, we will be far worse than ever before.
In the meantime, we will be able to connect online, through books, and correspondence. Some of our live activities for smaller groups will continue as usual, and we will continue to keep you in the loop.
We ask you to keep supporting each other and us. Stay healthy and reach out with whatever you need.
