Courtyard Yarning: First Nations Readings

Readings from our First Nations Writers WA Group and guest First Nations authors. By invite only.

Nov 27, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Centre for Stories

We are celebrating two years of our First Nations Writers WA Group existing by inviting the participants to share their writing or the writing of other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our beautiful heritage courtyard at Centre for Stories. We are excited to showcase readings from our Short But Deadly First Nations Flash Prize winners, with the names of those readers coming soon.

Guest established authors will also read a piece to inspire our emerging writers. Last year we were honoured to have Kim Scott and Cindy Solonec speak. This year our honoured guest speakers will include Palyku author Ambelin Kwaymullina, Whadjuk Ballardong poet Jack Collard – and more names coming soon!

We will also be excited to announce what’s in store for the 2025 writing program at this event, including fellowships and other opportunities.

Over a shared meal, we will celebrate Blak excellence in storytelling and literature in a safe environment. Dinner (self-serve) will be provided. You can let us know when you register for a ticket if you have any allergies or intolerances.

This event is for the writers of the group, their friends/family, or by invitation only.

The First Nations Writers WA group was made possible with generous support from Spinifex Foundation and Herbert Smith Freehills. It is facilitated by Casey Mulder and Luisa Mitchell. Contact us at info@centreforstories if you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person living in Perth and interested in joining our group.
