Call for short stories – Youth in the Augusta-Margaret River Shire

Do you have a story to share? A funny, brave or bold story that is bursting to be told? Here’s your chance!
The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River and Centre for Stories are calling for short story submissions for its RISE (Resilient Innovative Skilled Employed) program, which provides young people with opportunities to gain the skills and confidence to pursue their careers of choice. We invite submissions of original and unpublished short stories, up to 800 words, from young people aged 12–17 living in the Augusta–Margaret River Shire.
Works of both fiction and non-fiction will be accepted, and selected work will be published in an anthology. Each writer whose work is selected for publication will also receive $50. Selected work will be edited by Nicole Sinclair, a writer and educator with a PhD in Creative Writing who has taught on ECU’s South West campus and in secondary schools, and whose debut novel Bloodlines was shortlisted for the 2014 TAG Hungerford Award.
Entries close on Friday 15 April 2022 and will need to be submitted electronically to caroline@centreforstories.com. If you’re a young writer from the South West of WA, we can’t wait to see your submissions!
