ANNOUNCEMENT: Story Lounge, presented by Centre for Stories

Centre for Stories is thrilled to announce the offical opening of Story Lounge, a new pop-up storytelling venue at 720 Hay Street Mall.

April 12, 2022

Centre for Stories is thrilled to announce the official opening of Story Lounge, a new pop-up storytelling venue at 720 Hay Street Mall in Perth on Thursday 21 April at 10:00am. We’ll be celebrating the opening of this space in the CBD by mapping our dreams for the future of the creative industries in Boorloo, with free cold brew coffee courtesy of Lulu Lala until 12:00pm. So come down, grab a coffee, a pen and some butcher paper, amd meet and chat with other local creatives and tell us what you want to see from us and other arts organisations in the city.

If you can’t make it to the opening, across the remaining month of April and across May, Story Lounge will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00am to 5:00pm to the public, and select Saturdays for events. Grab a coffee, curl up on an armchair and explore our collection – whether it’s a book from our First Nations Library or a story from our archive in the listening lounge – or share your own stories of Perth at our recording station.

We will also be announcing a number of exciting events across April and May soon, which includes a regular First Nations Book Club, Write Night in the City, Slam Poetry, as well as a number of writing workshops.

Additional announcements will be made for programming of the Story Lounge in May and June, which will include conversations for World Press Freedom Day, International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, National Reconciliation Week, and World Refugee Week.

We can’t wait to share this new creative space with you all. Keep up-to-date with Story Lounge by following us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Story Lounge would not be possible without the Humich Group who donated the Hay Street Mall shopfront to activate the CBD for local writers and artists, as well as financial support from the City of Perth.
