Join Saadia Ahmed in Feminisms of Our Mothers, a workshop dedicated to writing about maternal figures in your life who inspired your feminist practice. Saadia will share her own story of connection to feminism and the special women in her life before leading a creative non-fiction workshop. In this workshop, you will do a writing activity designed to spark your creativity and enhance your skills.

The workshop will conclude with a first draft of a creative non-fiction piece dedicated to the special mother or maternal figure in your life.

Saadia Ahmed is a Pakistani-Australian digital humanities scholar pursuing her doctorate at Curtin University, Boorloo. Her research focuses on gendered harassment on social media, post-colonial feminism, and critical theory of disability. Additionally, she has a background of digital journalism, performing arts, and storytelling. Her journalistic and performing arts practice are situated at an intersection of the feminist discourse, human rights, and socio-political narratives in Pakistan.

WHAT TO BRING?

LOCATION AND TRANSPORT

The event will be held at Centre for Stories, Northbridge WA 6003. Centre for Stories is a wheelchair accessible venue.

The Perth train station is a 10-minute walk from Centre for Stories. The closest Wilson parking is 2 minutes away at Northbridge Central, 8/6 Errichetti Place.
