Our young writers take the spotlight in ‘This Home of Ours’
Honouring young Western Australian storytellers
October 27, 2025
We’re thrilled to see This Home of Ours — our newest youth anthology — celebrated for its creativity and impact. The collection brings together stories of belonging, identity, and connection to Country from young writers across Western Australia who have taken part in our Youth Program, including Write Up and The Spark.
These stories reflect the courage and imagination of a new generation of storytellers finding their voice. Each piece is the result of months of mentorship, writing, and reflection guided by our incredible mentors, editors, and community of supporters.
The anthology’s impact was recently recognised in a WA Government media statement, highlighting the importance of supporting emerging voices through initiatives like ours. In this statement, Creative Industries Minister Simone McGurk commended the young writers who took part in the program, saying the anthology is “a testament to what happens when young people are given the platform to authentically express themselves.”
We’re proud of every young person who contributed to This Home of Ours and grateful to everyone who continues to believe in the power of stories to create understanding and change.
This Home of Ours was made possible with generous funding from the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, and Healthway.
