An Evening of African Poetry

An Evening of African Poetry was an event hosted by Centre for Stories at Lawson Flats as part of the 2024 Patricia Kailis Fellowship.
The Patricia Kailis International Writing Fellowship aims to ‘support the work of talented individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to ideas and practices that foster belonging and better cross-cultural understanding’, ‘deepen and broaden the literary culture in Western Australia’, and offer Western Australian emerging writers access to writers of international reputation.
The Patricia Kailis International Writing Fellowship has been made possible with the generous donation of her son Dr George Kailis.
In 2024, Sihle Ntuli was flown from Durban, South Africa to Western Australia. Throughout the course of two months, Sihle hosted a number of events. This was one of them. In this event, Sihle, along with John Mateer, Taonga Sendama and Mohammed ‘Ayo Busari’, read some of their poetry at Lawson Flats.
