This Home of Ours is a youth anthology that explores themes of belonging, connection, identity, love, and connection to nature. The collection showcases rich and multifaceted perspectives that serve as a powerful demonstration of young people’s creative potential when given the platform to authentically express themselves. These stories and poems create a tapestry of experiences that celebrate the diverse ways we find home – in place, in people, and within ourselves.
This anthology features the work of 17 young writers aged 13-24. Ten participants joined The Spark’s Mentoring to Publication program, where they were paired with experienced mentors to develop their writing. The remaining seven contributors participated in our Poetry in Nature program, which included inspiring visits to The Wetlands Centre and ongoing workshops designed to refine their poetic craft.
