Story Lounge
Upswell is Perth’s newest Perth-based publishing house and founder Terri-ann White will be presenting all of the books Upswell have released so far. Come down and browse their catalogue, discuss the titles with Terri-ann and purchase them directly from the publisher.
Terri-ann will be joined by Scott-Patrick Mitchell, poet and author of the extraordinary Clean, who will be there between 5:00pm and 6:00pm to perform some of their poetry and sign books.
You don’t have to register for this event – just pop in to Story Lounge at 720 Hay Street Mall in Perth’s CBD when you’re ready!
PARKING AND TRANSPORT
There is free parking with CPP at His Majesty’s Theatre after 6pm, which is a short 5 minute walk to the Story Lounge. Likewise, access to the Perth Underground Train Station is also a 5 minute walk away.
TOILET
Please note that the Story Lounge does not have a bathroom but visitors can use the public toilets across Hay Street Mall at the Enex Building.

Collapse BioTerri-ann White has worked around books all of her working life: as a bookseller, writer, and publisher at UWA Publishing (2006-2020) and now Upswell Publishing, her creation in 2021.

Scott-Patrick Mitchell
Collapse BioScott-Patrick Mitchell is a WA-based non-binary poet who is a guest on unceded Whadjuk Noongar land. SPM’s work appears in Contemporary Australian Poetry, The Fremantle Press Anthology of Western Australian Poetry, Solid Air, Stories of Perth and Going Postal. They have a number of previous chapbooks, including songs for the ordinary mass (PressPress, 2009) and The Rutting Season (Mulla Mulla Press, 2012). A seasoned performance poet, Mitchell has toured Australia with works that have fused language and minimal baroque to the 2015 one-person showcase THE 24 HOUR PERFORMANCE POEM. SPM has won Coal Creek’s Literary Award for Poetry, Melbourne Poets Union’s Martin Downey Urban Realist Poetry Award and The Wollongong Short Story Prize. A focus for the poet is in building community through their work with Perth Poetry Festival and WA Poets Inc’s Emerging Writers Program. They live with two black cats, Beowulf and Bones.
