Have you ever wanted to transform your ideas into a script for the big screen?

Learn the basics of screenwriting with Dr Peter Gall, a semi-finalist-winning screenwriter with a background in entrepreneurship. This is a perfect workshop for beginners.

In this 2-hour interactive workshop, you will cover:

The basics of screenwriting
The essential building blocks to writing a pilot episode
Formatting skills
Writing a great logline and synopses
Receive a hand-out of recommended screenplay writing books and resources

Workshop schedule:

First hour – Theory and presentation.
15 minute break – You are welcome to bring your own dinner if you like.
Final 45 minutes – Writing time on your own idea, with feedback from Dr Peter Gall.

ABOUT DR PETER GALL

Peter Gall has a Doctorate in Philosophy and a number of other degrees in Entrepreneurship, Management University Teaching, and Creative Arts. Peter was Head of Research and Discipline Coordinator for Management for ten years at Notre Dame University before retiring in 2019 to dive back into his real passion – screenwriting. He loves to write screenplays for the big screen, television, short films and the streaming platforms particularly in the crime, thriller, science fiction and fantasy genres.

Peter has written three features, five television pilots and ten shorts and placed in the quarter-finals or been officially selected for global screenwriting competitions, including: official selection at Get It Made Film Festival (2019); official selection at Miami Screenplay Awards (2021); Quarter-finalist at Wiki: World’s Fastest Screenplay Contest (2021); Honourable Mention at Santa Barbara International Screenplay Awards (2021); Quarter-finalist at Chicago Screenplay Awards; and official selection at Oaxaca Film Fest (2022). His latest placing and one he is most proud of is a second rounder placing at one of the highest rated International Screenplay competitions, the Austin Texas screenplay competition in October 2022.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring your own device and/or materials to work from (laptop, tablet, or a notepad and pen).

No screenwriting software (e.g. Final Draft) for your computer is needed – you will be able to use Microsoft Word or another writing program.

Perth Train Station is just a 10 minute walk from Centre for Stories, or there is nearby parking at Wilson Parking on 6-8 Errichetti Place, Northbridge, which is a 2-minute walk away from Centre for Stories.
