Launch of 'Balcony': A Global Community Magazine

Thursday April 15, 2021

  • This event has passed.

Please join us to celebrate Perth’s new and eclectic magazine Balcony, with contributions from three continents – Asia, America and Australia. This inaugural issue will be launched by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Western Australia, Prof Amit Chakma.

Balcony is a community publication with literary aspirations. This issue includes poetry by Alf Taylor,  translated excerpts from Kolkata’s most popular poet Srijato, alongside recipes and travel tales from new, previously unpublished writers.

Balcony is the English language venture of a long-established Bengali diaspora publication, বাতায়ন  (pronounced ‘baa-taa-yon’). We are delighted to celebrate its arrival on the first day of the Bengali New year.

This evening will feature readings and refreshments. Copies of Balcony will be available to purchase for $5 each. RSVP is essential as numbers are restricted.
