Backstories – Quinns Rocks

Saturday October 15, 2022
16:00 - 18:00

Backstories is a multi-sited storytelling festival located in the suburbs of Western Australia. Spend a lazy afternoon with friends and family in the comfort of your neighbour’s backyard to listen to two trained storytellers. Pack a picnic, bring something to sit on, and put your mingling hat on – it’s going to be a rippa arvo!

Featuring storytellers Aidan Maximo and Nadia Heisler, with music by Tanaya Harper, and facilitated by Kosta Lucas.

WHAT TO BRING

Bring your own snacks, drinks, or a picnic dinner. Please make sure you bring a picnic rug or a lawn chair to sit on as seating is not provided.

COVID SAFETY

All Backstories attendees aged 16 years and over are required to show proof of COVID-19 double vaccination, or their medical exemption, along with identification, upon entry. More information about these requirements can be found here.

We will be tracking the latest health advice from the WA government and we will notify attendees of additional covid safety requirements as they are announced.

Nadia Heisler

Nadia Heisler is originally from Brazil and has been living in Perth since 2011. Originally a journalist in her home country, she had countless jobs in Australia (including serving drinks in a bikini) before gaining sufficient English skills to go back to doing what she loves the most: write. Her story is about her journey of trying for a baby, and how she had to revisit her past and forgive herself in order to be ready for this new chapter of her life.

Aidan Maximo

Aidan is a Filipino-Australian trans man with future plans of becoming a lawyer. He is in the process of obtaining his Juris Doctor and works for the Freedom Centre, a LGBTIQIA+ drop-in service for young people. He is a passionate advocate for the legal rights of the trans and gender diverse community.

This event is located in the suburb of Quinns Rock (6030).
The exact location of the backyard will be emailed to ticket holders before the event.
