Backstories Festival

Backstories – Bunbury

Pack a picnic, hear from two trained storytellers, and mingle with local members of your community!

Oct 30, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Stirling Street Arts Centre

Backstories is a multi-sited storytelling festival located in the suburbs of Western Australia. Spend a lazy afternoon with friends and family in the comfort of your neighbour’s backyard to listen to two trained storytellers. Pack a picnic, bring something to sit on, and put your mingling hat on – it’s going to be a rippa arvo!

Featuring storytellers Widi Astuti and Shizleen Aishath, with music by Jim Harte and facilitated by Dominque Bayens.

Organised in partnership with Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre.

WHAT TO BRING

Bring your own snacks, drinks, or a picnic dinner. Please make sure you bring a picnic rug or a lawn chair to sit on as seating is not provided.

ACCESSIBILITY

Backstories is located in residential backyards so we cannot guarantee that all backyards will meet your access needs. We would like to make Backstories accessible to as many people as possible and encourage you to get in touch by phone or email to discuss your access needs. If you require an Auslan interpreter, please contact us by Friday 21 October on (08) 9328 1443 or at info@centreforstories.com.

TICKETING

For those who can afford it, pay-what-you-feel ticketing is available starting at $5.00. Ticket sales mean that we can pay the storytellers, musicians, and other artists who make our Backstories festival possible.

Companion card holders are welcome, please contact us on (08) 9328 1443 or at info@centreforstories.com to organise this.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, you can contact us to arrange entry at no charge on (08) 9328 1443 or at info@centreforstories.com.
