Lintaus Laut focuses on an exchange of writers between Western Australia and Eastern Indonesia, shining a light on parts of both nations that are often under represented in cultural dialogue. Working with local partners, the Centre for Stories will be hosted in Indonesia as a way to promote the links between both places. In exchange, we will open our doors for a residency at the Centre for Stories that will allow us to showcase our events, workshops, and our community. This is about the creation of new relationships and new works in the in-between spaces. It will allow the public to hear about marginalised stories and is a way to celebrate sharing culture across borders.
Our Interviews series gives us an opportunity to focus on the work that individuals do. It highlights the writing, storytelling, and poetic craft of people. As Between the Lines comes to a close, the Centre for Stories is excited to launch two new series: Bincang Buku and Five Minutes With.
"My time volunteering at a whole range of places has, in a way, been for me to test waters in different fields of work—and along with it, I’ve worked with many wonderful humans."
"I am standing here in front of you speaking, not as an expert, but as a Zimbabwean-born African-Australian writer who has more than a few things to say."
"I think stories broaden our worlds while bringing other people into our unique, personal interpretation of our lives or of the communities around us."
